The Norway Opera House

Originally built in 1887, The Norway Maine Opera House stands at the center of historic Main Street. The Building is on the National Registry of Historic Places.

Follow the Norway Opera House

In 1894, the Opera House was rebuilt after the Great Fire. The building was the center for both commerce and entertainment. It was a site for graduations, dances, theater and traveling shows. Follow the rehabilitation journey and keep up to date with what's going on in Downtown Norway. 

 

 

The Mission

To protect, preserve, and operate the historic Norway Opera house as a creative performance space, shared community venue, and economic generator for downtown Norway and the greater Oxford Hills Community.

The Plans

PHASE ONE of this important project has been to secure the integrity of the building and to renovate the first floor retail spaces. This plan is complete.

PHASE TWO currently focuses on bringing this space back to a fully functioning opera house and assuring its place in the community for generations to come.
